> About Me <
LeeAnn is an always theatre-maker (and sometimes director) in search of innovative & compelling story-telling practices/experiences. She believes in the transformative power sharing space with each other, of centering a new perspective, of asking questions, and of listening deeply. She works to recognize and disrupt normative systems of oppression by means of (and present in) theater-making.
LeeAnn is Artistic Associate at California Shakespeare Theater where, among other things, she manages casting, helps produce Mainstage work, and supports season planning/new works development. She sits on Theater Bay Area's Theater Services Committee, and has worked with companies across the Bay Area and beyond. She has served as Assistant Director to Jackson Gay, Lisa Peterson, and Nancy Carlin.
LeeAnn was the inaugural recipient of Cal Shakes’ Artistic Fellowship, a Directing Apprentice with PlaygroundSF, and a 2017-18 Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation Observer. She is an ASTEP Fellow, and a very proud alum of SpringboardNYC & Cherubs.
LeeAnn holds a BFA in Theatre Performance & minor in Sociology from Chapman University.
> ABOUT MY APPROACH <
The most important quality of theater, to me, is the shared presence of those telling the story and those for whom it is being told. I aspire to tell stories in ways that harness the power of that shared presence in specific and intentional ways. In all aspects of my work, I strive to create spaces in which people can bring their full selves to a common moment. A space that offers the rare opportunity to be fully human in presence of others.
